Love Marriage Lawyer in Ahmedabad

Confidential legal help for couples marrying by choice — including when families object. Your marriage, done lawfully and safely.

Last reviewed: 12 Oct 2026

Many of the couples who call us are marrying for love against their families' wishes, or have not yet told their families at all. We understand how stressful that is. The law is on your side: the Supreme Court of India has repeatedly held that two adults have the right to marry a person of their choice, and that the consent of family or community is not required.

What the law says

  • In Lata Singh v. State of U.P. (2006), the Supreme Court held that an adult is free to marry whomever they like, and directed police to protect inter-caste couples from harassment.
  • In Shafin Jahan v. Asokan K.M. (2018), the Court held that the right to choose a life partner is part of the right to life and liberty under Article 21.
  • In Shakti Vahini v. Union of India (2018), the Court issued directions to prevent and punish interference by family or caste groups in adult marriages.

How we help love-marriage couples

  • Choosing the right route — Special Marriage Act or ceremony plus registration — based on your religions, location and timeline.
  • Confidential handling — we never contact your families. We explain in advance exactly what information the marriage officer or registrar will record or publish under current Gujarat rules, so you can plan.
  • Objections — if a relative files an objection during the notice period, we draft the reply and represent you before the officer.
  • Safety — if you face threats, we help you make a written representation to the police and, where needed, file a protection petition before the Gujarat High Court. See protection for married couples.

Before you come to us

Keep your original age proof, Aadhaar card and a few photographs safe and with you. If you are already living together or have already married in a temple, tell us — it changes the fastest route to a certificate.

Frequently asked questions

Can we marry without our parents’ permission?

Yes. If the groom is 21 or older and the bride is 18 or older, and the other legal conditions are met, parental permission is not needed for a valid marriage. Gujarat's 2026 rules on registration add procedural steps involving parent details; we will explain how they apply to your route.

Will our families be informed?

Under the Special Marriage Act, the notice of intended marriage is published by the Marriage Officer, and under Gujarat's 2026 registration rules parents may be notified in registration cases. We explain exactly what is published or sent, and to whom, before you file anything.

What if we face threats after the marriage?

You can approach the local police and, if necessary, the Gujarat High Court for a protection order. We prepare and file these petitions regularly.
