Most delays in court marriage come from paperwork. Use this checklist to collect everything before you file. Carry originals and self-attested photocopies. We will check every document before submission.

For each witness
- ID proof and address proof (Aadhaar card is commonly used)
- One or two passport-size photographs
- Presence in person on the day of marriage / registration
Special Marriage Act marriages require three witnesses. Registration of a Hindu marriage usually requires two witnesses who attended the ceremony.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Names spelt differently on Aadhaar and school certificate.
- Address proof that is too recent to show 30 days' residence.
- Describing a divorced partner as "unmarried" in the affidavit.
- Witness ID that has expired or does not show the current address.
Frequently asked questions
Is Aadhaar card enough for court marriage?
Aadhaar works as ID and address proof, but you will usually also need a separate proof of date of birth such as a birth certificate, school leaving certificate or passport.
Do witnesses need to be relatives?
No. Any adult with valid ID and address proof can be a witness — friends and colleagues are fine.
